The kolab Group

Back in days of old, a pirate code, pirate articles or articles of agreement were a code of conduct for governing pirates. A group of sailors, on turning pirate, would draw up their own code or articles, which provided rules for discipline, division of stolen goods, and compensation for injured pirates. It was a way of working together to mutual goals. The negative criminal aspects aside, the pirate codes are a great model of defining how independent experts can work together as equals whilst keeping their independence.

The kolab Group is a collection of like minded independent (contract/consultant) experts in their fields, brought together to work to mutual benefit through active collaboration. We have our own code...

  • We are independent experts who see that working together through collaboration benefits our clients
  • We do not specialise in any one area of expertise or any one industry, as we see great value in crossing silos
  • We see value in creating innovation and knowledge
  • We see value in communicating our innovation and knowledge
  • We are always learning
  • We are active in sharing our innovation, knowledge and best working practices with each other
  • We maintain full client trust and confidentiality in our dealings with each other and our clients
  • We approach serving our clients together and share the gains and the costs according to the proportion of our value in the contribution to the value provided to our clients
  • We make best use of the rapidly changing tools and methodologies across all fields, creating some as we go or applying them in new areas
  • We maintain our active collaboration through the kolab Group Slack, which acts as our virtual agora or assembly place
To be a member of the kolab Group, you need to agree to our code and meet the additional criteria to be known to an existing member through your recognised expertise and reputation, as well as actively an independent contractor/consultant. Your route to membership is simply to contact the existing member you know, and they will apply on your behalf to become a member of the group.
